After completing her BCom Hons degree with majors in Marketing and Management at the University of Natal in Durban, Mpume joined Johnnic Publishing in 2002 (now Times Media Group) where she gained invaluable experience in media publishing.

Mpume then made a career move into Advertising as an Account Manager at various agencies, helping her to broadened her skills set to include through-the-line experience across a diverse portfolio of brands and categories. Her experience is vested in both brand and customer marketing. 2008 saw Mpume join Yellowwood as Account Director and later became Business Unit Director, leading a team of designers in translating brand strategy into design strategy for various clients on various design disciplines: corporate identity and visual language development, packaging design, 3D design, 4D design, interiors and CI controls.

Her brand portfolio included Parastatals, Financial Services, Media, Cultural, Retail, Biotechnology, Petrochemicals, Education, Municipality, Freight, Manufacturing, Hospitality and FMCG. Mpume joined Joe Public in 2013 as Business Unit Director, heading a diverse portfolio of brands that include the development of brand strategy and ATL campaigns for Nedbank, CCI’s Brothers for Life and Zazi, British American Tobacco, South African Breweries Corporate brand, Brutal Fruit, Redd’s and Castle Milk Stout. Aligned with her passion of growing people, growing the next generation of leaders, Mpume has been a part time lecturer at Boston Media House for the last 4 years, where she equips the students with a practical skills set to make the right first choice when starting their careers.
